FAQ
Yes, you need a GP referral in order to make an appointment with our Gynaecologist. This is because our specialists are legally obliged to have a referral letter for every patient. It is also important to have a referral letter in order to claim your Medicare rebate. Please ensure that you have visited your GP or a referring specialist in order to obtain a referral letter prior to making your initial appointment with us. Without this, it may not be possible for us to see you at your scheduled appointment time. Alternatively, you are able to book in with one of our Women's Health GPs, Dr Chou Ky, Dr Wasan Maghazaji, Dr Nevin Gabra or Dr Dami Gawley, to arrange an internal referral.
Please bring your GP referral letter, your Medicare card, and your private health insurance card if applicable. We also ask that you bring details of all past and current medical problems for which treatment was required, all previous surgical procedures with their dates, and all current medications. Previous test results, such as blood tests and ultrasounds, are also helpful to bring along.
We always aim to charge affordable gaps for both initial and follow-up consultations. A Financial Consent Form provided at the time of booking sets out the specific cost details and the relevant Medicare rebate information. Medicare rebates apply to consultations and office procedures performed at our rooms, but not to cosmetic procedures.
Initial gynaecologist consultations take approximately 45 minutes, with follow-ups around 30 minutes. Women's Health GP appointments range from 10 to 40 minutes depending on the level of care. Skin assessments are 40 minutes, initial pelvic floor physiotherapy is 60 minutes, other physiotherapy assessments are 40 minutes, and psychology sessions are 50 minutes.
We require at least 24 hours' notice in order to avoid a cancellation fee being charged. We understand that unforeseen same-day cancellations can occur, and we encourage you to speak with our practice manager if this happens.
Dr Hanan Maghazaji maintains a weekly theatre list at North Eastern Community Hospital.
