Women’s Health Plus is here to provide you with expert support and guidance at every stage of your pregnancy journey. Dr Valerie Thompson is a highly experienced and well-qualified obstetrician in Adelaide, who is dedicated to providing the highest levels of obstetric care, whether this is your first child or you are already a mother.

Our obstetrics team provides pre-conception counselling and pre-pregnancy management if you are considering starting a family or are trying to get pregnant. We can give you helpful advice on exercise and diet, vitamin and mineral supplements, and immunisation for women before pregnancy so that you are fully prepared and in the best possible health.

Once you have become pregnant, we offer affordable ongoing antenatal care. This will usually begin with a first visit to our Adelaide women’s health centre when you are around 7 to 11 weeks pregnant (although it can be earlier) and then continues throughout your pregnancy.

Women’s Health Plus also provides ultrasound scans throughout pregnancy, including dating, follow up and growth ultrasounds, all of which are conveniently conducted at our practice.

When the time arrives for your baby to be delivered, your Women’s Health Plus obstetrician will be there for you, with our team providing all the care and support you need. Dr Thompson delivers babies at Burnside Hospital, Calvary Hospital North Adelaide, North Eastern Community Hospital, and the Women’s & Children’s Hospital.

Once your new baby has been born, Women’s Health Plus continues to be a source of ongoing support and postnatal care. This will include health check-ups to ensure that your body is recovering from the birth and that you are coping emotionally as well.

Our Adelaide obstetrics team is also here to give you breast feeding advice and help, should you need it, and can connect you to other support services as you adjust to life with your new baby. We will also schedule a check-up for you around six weeks after your baby is delivered to monitor your physical recovery and your emotional well being.
